Man arrested for series of offences after helicopter search near Thetford

A 34-year-old man has been arrested for a series of offences following police action in Brookeville, near Thetford, last night.

The man was detained after fleeing on foot from a vehicle which failed to stop for police in the village at around 10pm.

A number of police units, involving patrol officers, the Norfolk and Suffolk Police Dog Unit and a helicopter from the National Police Air Service were involved in the subsequent search and a suspect was found hiding on farmland at around 11pm.

Earlier in the evening, as a result of public information, a vehicle stolen from Methwold on Wednesday evening was located at a property in Brookville.

The man, from Rutland, was arrested on suspicion of theft of this motor vehicle, drink driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving without a licence.

He remains in police custody at this time.
