A 44-year-old man was arrested after armed officers were called to a Thetford home.

The police were responding to calls raising concerns about the welfare of a man at a home in Tennyson Way at 4.30pm yesterday.

The male initially refused to leave and trained police negotiators were called to assist before the man left the property peacefully at 7pm.

He was arrested and taken to Bury PIC for questioning.

A police spokesman said: “At no time was there believed to be a wider threat to members of the local community.”
