A 67-year-old Lowestoft man has been arrested after police searched a shed in Park Road in the town earlier today (Friday) and discovered herbal cannabis estimated to have a street value of more than £10,000.

Plain clothes officers from the Lowestoft-based Territorial Support Team were investigating a strong smell of cannabis that appeared to be coming from the wooden shed, located at the back of a property in the road.

The owner of the shed – the 67-year-old man – was arrested and a search was carried out, with three large plastic tubs inside found to contain a large quantity of cannabis.

A police spokesman said: “The 67-year-old was detained about 9.15am this morning (Friday, May 30), on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply. He was taken into custody and interviewed by officers before being bailed to return to police on Wednesday, August 6 to allow further inquiries to be carried out.”
