Emergency services were called after an HGV lorry crashed on a busy bypass.

The single-vehicle accident happened on the A47 Thorney bypass in Cambridgeshire just after 2.30am on Tuesday, September 27.

Fenland Police officers were called to the scene along with firefighters and paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST).

Two ambulances and an ambulance officer attended and a man, believed to be in his 50s, has been taken to Peterborough City Hospital with suspected back injuries.

An EEAST spokesman said the patient’s condition was not thought to be life-threatening.

On Twitter, Fenland Police said: “Officers along with @cambsfrs @EastEnglandAmb attended single vehicle #RTC on #A47 Thorney bypass this morning, minor injury to driver.”
