Kids’ clothes, toiletries, toothpaste, tinned food - it looks like anyone’s typical trip to the shops.

But these goods don’t belong to a mum who’s popped into town for a few essentials. This is a typical shoplifter’s haul.

Police seized the items when they arrested a female thief in the town centre for stealing alcohol.

One officer tweeted: “Female arrested for theft of alcohol, admission promptly made. She forgot to mention the other 37 suspected stolen items in bag.”
A trip to the magistrates’ court might help her memory. The woman is one of dozens of hard-core offenders arrested since officers in Lynn teamed up with town centre shops to launch Operation Apart.

Police and retailers share information about known prolific shoplifters and how they operate.

Stores contact the police and each other to raise the alarm whenever a known or suspected shoplifter is spotted.
