A King’s Lynn man was found with a stash of £1500 worth of stolen goods, recently taken in a burglary, after a tracker device on one of the stolen items was activated, a court heard.

Oliver Chapman 32, was found to have hidden the items in a shed at King’s Green after police acting on the information provided by the tracker device, executed a search warrant at the address, Norwich Crown Court was told.

Richard White, prosecuting, said the burglary had occurred on April 9 and the next day the stolen items which included a laptop, an Armani watch and Samsung Notebook computer, were found in a backpack in a shed.

Chapman told police he had bought the items from a teenager, who had called at his address and offered the goods for £200.

Chapman, of King’s Green, King’s Lynn, who has a number of previous convictions for dishonesty, admitted handling stolen goods and was jailed for eight months.

Andrew Shaw, for Chapman, said he had a troubled history but was now making good progress on beating his addiction to drugs.

He said it would be counter productive for him to go to jail.

“He is someone who is making real positive efforts.”
