Clive Malone, 27, formerly of Paget Road, Great Yarmouth, has admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Russell Lambert, but has denied an alternative charge of attempted murder. Malone, on the first day of his trial also admitted attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to Russell Lambert’s brother, Tommy Lambert and aggravated burglary.

The trial has heard how Malone attacked the two men after an earlier row over the music being played at Tommy’s birthday party.

Malone has admitted hitting Russell Lambert, but claims he never intended to kill anyone, but had panicked when Russell caught him trying to steal his laptop.

Russell Lambert, who was 55 at the time of the attack, suffered brain damage and is now unable to feed himself, walk or communicate properly.
