The inquest into the death of a 49-year-old man who died from suspected alcohol and amphetamine misuse will take place in January.

In an opening hearing at Norfolk Coroner's Court, Carrow House, area coroner Yvonne Blake said that Simon Peter Bates' cause of death was listed as sudden unexpected death in alcohol misuse.

She added that he was found dead by his mother at his house in North Walsham on June 22, 2018.

The court heard that Mr Bates was found lying on his back by Maureen Lynch and pronounced dead at the scene.

Mrs Blake said that Mr Bates was born in Chingford on June 12 1969 and moved to North Walsham some years later. She added that no occupation was given for him.

The inquest was adjourned today (September 24).
