A 54-year-old man has been jailed after police uncovered a stash of heroin worth more than £46,000.

The 500g hoard was found hidden underneath kitchen cupboards at a house in Red Lion Close in Holme Hale, near Swaffham, when officers carried out a late-night raid on March 3 this year.

Police searched the property and with the help of a drugs dog discovered the heroin stash, which had a street value of £46,423, along with cutting agents and scales.

Brian Burdett, 53, who lives at the address, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and acquiring criminal property in relation to cash which was seized from the address. He pleaded guilty to the crimes at an earlier hearing and on Monday was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Monday to five years in jail.
