A removal man 'forgot' he was carrying a lock knife when he attempted to enter a Great Yarmouth pub earlier this summer.
Christopher Brian Tucker, of Middle Market Road, Great Yarmouth, was caught with the blade after being searched at the Pier Tavern on August 11.
Staff carried out the search after concerns around drugs in the pub, with a small quantity of cannabis found on Tucker.
Calvin Saker, defending, said: 'He needs the knife to strip cables and collect waste at work.
'He put the knife in his jacket pocket and a few days later he wore that same jacket to go out, but he forgot about the knife.'
Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, Tucker pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in public and possession of a class B drug.
Magistrates handed Tucker a 12 month community order, involving a three month curfew between 7pm and 7am, and 100 hours of unpaid work, and ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the knife.
