Residents in West Norfolk are being warned to be vigilant to a potential fuel scam in the area.

At approximately 12.30am on Tuesday, December 31, a couple were flagged down by a male parked on the side of the A134 in Whittington.

The male, who spoke in broken English, stated that he had run out of fuel and asked for cash to get some more.

He gave the victim a business card and in turn, the driver handed over £20 to the male.

The offender then drove off, past a fuel station without stopping.

Officers are urging drivers to be vigilant and to be cautious when dealing with anyone who appears to be trying obtaining money in this way.

Anyone with information about this incident should call PC Teilo Pearce at Downham Market Police Station on 101.
