A fourth man has been arrested in connection with an incident in Sheringham which left one man unconscious with serious head injuries and two others with face and hand wounds.

The most seriously injured man, in his 20s, has regained consciousness but remains in Addenbrooke’s Hospital today.

The fourth arrested man, in his late 20s, is being questioned on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is in police custody.

Three men, two in their late 20s and one in his late teens, were arrested on the same grounds and were released on police bail last night until Monday July 21. All four are from the Holt area.

The incident happened at about 12:30am yesterday morning when the unconscious man was found on the main Cromer Road. The two other men, in their 20s, were found with injuries close by.

All three injured men were taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment and the two less seriously injured were later discharged.

The third man was transferred to Addenbrooke’s.

Jackie Ling, landlady of the nearby Dunstable Arms, said the incident was “extremely upsetting.” The injured men had not been in her pub and she only became aware of the trouble after the pub closed at 12.15pm and she realised there was a lot of activity outside.

“I went out to see if I could help,” she said. “It was on the corner of Pine Grove. The poor man was in the middle of the road and the police were everywhere.

“Another gentleman was sitting on the pavement with blood on his face. I didn’t see a third man though. I went and got my First Aid kit”

She added: “That poor man is someone’s son. I was upset all day yesterday. I’m hopeful that my CCTV camera might have worked and they can get to the bottom of it.”

Anyone with information should contact the police on 101.
