Police said seven cars were broken into - five on Friday night, with two on Main Road and three on Beverley Way. A further two vehicles were targeted on Saturday night on Linden Road.

In all cases the windows of the vehicles were smashed and valuable items including a laptop, a brief case and an iPod Nano taken from inside.

Supt Dennis Lacey said: “The cars targeted in this series all had valuable items left of display.

“I cannot stress enough the importance of removing items from your vehicles. Thieves will be brazen enough to simply walk down a road looking through car windows checking if there is anything worth stealing and target those vehicles – don’t let yours be one of them.”

Police stepped up patrols after Friday’s thefts. Four men, aged 32, 33, 38 and 51 have been arrested over the thefts.

They were all taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning where they were later released on condition bail pending further enquiries.
