A woman from Gorleston says she was woken by a bang last night after a car crashed through her wall as police made arrests following a stabbing in Bradwell.
Police were called to Bunnewell Avenue at around 11.10pm on Sunday night following reports of a disturbance between a group of people.
On arrival, police found that a man had been stabbed and he was taken to James Paget University Hospital (JPUH), before later being transferred to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he is in a stable condition.
Four people, two men and two women, all aged in their 20s and from the Luton area, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and have now been released under investigation.
Verity Staff, who lives in St Anne’s Crescent, said she was woken in the middle of the night after a car crashed through her garden wall.
She said: “I heard screeching and a bang. It scared me to death. I could hear police shouting ‘get on the floor’.
“When I came out there was a boy on the floor being arrested, two riot vans and about three cars. Quite a lot of people were out in the street, I think it woke all of us.
“There was a Fiat Punto crashed through my wall and my fence and it has wrecked our trampoline.
“I’ve only lived here about a year but I never had a car crash through my wall before. We only actually had the wall and fence done two days ago and I don’t know what we’re going to do because I don’t think they’re going to be insured.”
Mike Faircloth has lived in Bunnewell Avenue for around 17 years and he said that anti-social behaviour from youths was becoming increasingly prevalent in the area.
He said: “I heard a rumpus of some sort, but they have shouting matches all the time so I thought nothing of it.
“I have extra bolts on my door, they throw things at my windows - they’re bored out of their tiny minds.
“You feel totally threatened by them. It’s pretty worrying at times around here and you had a feeling sooner or later something was going to happen.”
