Carlo Nash, who was released by the club, where he was third choice goalkeeper, following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, was clocked by a traffic officer on the A11 at Wymondham.

Nash, from Leftbank, Manchester, was stopped in his Mercedes Benz in a 70mph zone by a marked car with a speed detector at 10.51pm on February 2.

He did not appear at a previous hearing at Norwich magistrates’ court but the bench found the case proved in his absence.

The case was adjourned to allow Nash to attend, but the 40-year-old failed to show again today.

Today’s hearing was due to consider imposing a driving ban and any other penalty.

Nash sent a request through his solicitors for the matter to be transferred to a court nearer to his home.

Nash has also been charged with speeding on the A11 at Quidenham, where he was clocked in a 70mph zone doing 88mph at 12.08pm on January 17.

Both cases were adjourned until next Friday, August 15 when magistrates will decide how to proceed.
