A drug dealer has been jailed for 28 months after admitting possessing heroin and cocaine with intent to supply.

Jordan Mhizha, of Sycamore Road, Colchester, was caught in Lowestoft when police carried out a search warrant at the Suffolk Road home of a man named John Green.

Prosecutor Laura Kenyon told Ipswich Crown Court the warrant was executed on August 14 last year. Mhizha, 21, was the only person at the property at the time.

Ten wraps of crack cocaine and five wraps of heroin were found on the kitchen work surface. A large bundle of wraps were also found along with £125 in cash, a plastic bag, and ripped up pieces of Clingfilm.

The larger bundle contained a further 17 small wraps of heroin and five small wraps of cocaine, the court heard.

In total the maximum potential value of all the drugs came to £370.

Ms Kenyon said Mhizha had five previous convictions for seven offences, but none of them were for similar matters.

The court was told Mhizha expected to get £100 to £150 for selling the drugs and was doing it only for financial gain. The 21-year-old was said to be easily influenced by others.

In addition to a custodial term Recorder Gerard Pounder also ordered Mhizha to pay £120 to the victims' fund.

John Green, whose flat Mhizha was in, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin. He had also admitted a separate charge of possessing a knife in a public place last month.

Ms Kenyon said police went to London Road in Lowestoft on March 25 where they found Green with a knife with an 8in blade. When an officer told him to drop it Green put it on a bench.

The alcoholic and drug addict had picked up the knife after getting involved in a dispute with another man.

The court heard the 41-year-old had 44 previous convictions for 108 offences, the vast majority for dishonesty matters.

Recorder Pounder jailed Green for a total of 12 months, but suspended this for 18 months in order for him to get help with his addictions.

Placing him under a supervision order, the judge said: 'Be under no illusions.

'If you fall from grace, if you fail to complete any of these terms, you are looking at going back into custody.'
