A driver caught using their phone behind the wheel with a three-year-old in the car had been “googling a pharmacy”, police said.

The driver was stopped and reported for using their phone in Norwich.

Norfolk and Suffolk Roads Policing officers tweeted that after caution, their reply was “I was just googling a pharmacy”

Using a mobile phone at the wheel is an offence included in the ‘fatal four’, along with speeding, drink driving and not wearing a seatbelt.

Penalties for the offence increased last year and offenders now receive a £200 fine and six penalty points, which for someone who has had their licence for less than two years would see it revert back to a provisional one.
