At around midnight officers in Hunstanton arrested a driver for failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and drink driving.

One added on Twitter: 'The driver has since provided evidential breath samples over twice the legal limit, don't drink and drive this festive season, you will get caught.'

Shortly afterwards, it was a similar story in King's Lynn, where officers tweeted: 'Male stopped by the SGT's after appearing to evade police. Turns out he was drink driving and over twice the legal limit.'

During the 2016 campaign, Norfolk police said 1,320 breath tests were carried out, with 82 drivers failing.

Special time slots have been set aside at courts for this year's campaign.

It means that offenders could now lose their licence within 24 hours of being breathalysed.
