A man has denied the murder of a 69-year-old man in Toftwood, when he appeared at a hearing at Norwich Crown Court.

Richard Beane, 49, of Brunswick Close, Dereham, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Brian Heed between February 1 and February 6, this year.

Judge Stephen Holt adjourned the case and told Beane that he would see him back in court for his trial.

Beane is due to stand trial on July 17 and the trial is expected to last about seven days.

Beane, who was wearing a casual grey polo short, was remanded in custody.

Andrew Jackson appeared for the prosecution and Ian James appeared for the defence at the short hearing.

Officers were called to Boyd Avenue, Toftwood, at 3.21pm on February 5, after a member of public reported concerns about a man. Officers got into a home and then discovered the body of Mr Heed.
