Eight cricket bats, which were custom-designed in Norfolk and worth hundreds of pounds each, have been stolen following a break-in at a north Norfolk sports club.
The incident took place at Cromer Cricket Club in Overstrand Road in the town sometime between 8.30pm on Monday June 16 and 6.20pm on Wednesday June 18.
Club captain and head coach, Tom Davies, 30, has played for the club since the age of 13 and said he felt like it was “a kick in the teeth”.
The incident happened after an unknown number of people broke into the building and stole a number of items including the eight cricket bats by makes including B&S, BAS Vampire, Norfolk Viper, Spartanet and the Norfolk Bat Company.
They are estimated to be worth between £170 and £300 each.
As well as the bats, a Makita digital radio and a pair of blue and green Caramore running trainers, size 10 and a half, were also taken.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have information relating to the incident or who may have been offered such items for sale.
• Witnesses are asked to contact Sergeant Andy Smith at Norfolk Constabulary on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
• Check back later for an up-to-date reaction from the chairman of the cricket club.
