A cordon put in place at a south Lowestoft alleyway has been lifted after police confirmed that no one had been injured.

An alleyway between Notley Road and Kimberley Road in Kirkley was sealed off about 3.30pm yesterday (Monday) following a report that someone had been assaulted.

But police have today said that after investigations “the incident did not happen as reported” and the cordon has been subsequently removed.

A police spokesman said: “We put a cordon in place in an alleyway between Notley Road and Kimberley Road after receiving an allegation of an assault. “However further inquiries determined the incident did not happen as reported and the cordon was lifted. No one has been injured.”
