A church bell stolen from St Peters Church in Dereham Road, Easton, near Norwich, was recovered by police today - two days after it was taken.

The brass bell was stolen after suspects managed to climb the roof and remove the bell from its chain.

Information supplied to police from local scrap yards led officers to a premise in Oak Street, Norwich where the bell was recovered.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being questioned at Aylsham Police Investigation Centre.

Inspector James Brown, from the Costessey Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We would like to thank local scrap dealers for their co-operation which has led to the recovery of the church bell.”
