A cat was injured after being shot with an air rifle pellet in a north Norfolk village.

The incident happened between 10am and 10.30am in Post Office Lane, Saxthorpe, near Holt, on August 15.

Afterwards, the cat was taken to the vets and treated for a foot injury caused by the pellet.

The witness appeal comes after a family in Cromer had to put their 16-month-old cat down, after finding him in their back garden on Thursday unable to use his legs.

When they took him to the vets, an X-ray revealed a pellet in his spine.

The family reported the incident to the police, who were treating the incident as criminal damage.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the Saxthorpe cat injury should contact PC Susie Crowe at Fakenham police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
