Burglars ransacked a house in Norwich, stealing more than £1,000 in cash from an elderly woman.

The incident happened between 7.30pm on Monday, August 18 and 7.50am the following day when intruders entered the property in Woodcock Road through the back door.

Suspects carried out an untidy search of the house, stealing a large amount of cash, between £1,000 and £1,500, while the woman, who is in her 90s, slept.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Craig Brooke, from Norwich CID, said: 'The suspect or suspects responsible entered the house while the elderly victim, a woman in her 90s, slept upstairs.

'She wasn't disturbed during the incident and it doesn't appear that any rooms were searched upstairs. I'm keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area overnight or noticed people acting out of character.'

Witnesses should contact DC Brooke at Norwich CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
