A young man and woman were in their home when four men broke in and attacked them about 2.45pm on Tuesday.

Both suffered minor injuries but have been left extremely shaken by the incident, and from initial inquiries police believe the couple may have been targeted by mistake.

A police spokesman said: “After receiving the initial 999 call about 3pm, officers attended and began inquiries to trace those involved. About 5.30pm the four – a 16-year-old boy, a 20-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 43-year-old man – were arrested in Larch Road in Lowestoft in connection with the incident.”

All four have been detained on suspicion of burglary. After being interviewed at the Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre they were then bailed until Thursday, April 10 pending further enquiries.
