A burglar tried to get in through the first-floor window of a home in Silver Road, to the north of the city centre.

The people in the house were woken by a bang just before 2am yesterday (Wednesday).

They found the window open, although the burglar had not got in.

Norfolk police want to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area or anyone with information about the attempted break-in.

Calls should be made to DC Sharon Fish at Norwich CID on 101.
