Armed police blocked a road in Norwich after a man made threats to kill.
Officers were called to Wilberforce Road, near to the University of East Anglia at 1.20pm on Saturday, after a disturbance at a property in the street.
A police spokesman said: 'Because of the nature of the disturbance we dispatched armed along side non-armed officers.
'The situation was brought under control and a 24-year-old male was arrested.
'It is believed he made threats to kill someone. No one else is believed to be involved in the threat and no-one was injured.'
Residents were told to stay in their homes while the road was blocked off.
One resident said she saw a number of officers and a dog unit in the road. She also said she heard, what she thought, was a police helicopter flying over.
Residents said that the road was blocked off for most of the afternoon.
The man was arrested and taken to the Wymondham Police Investigation Centre where he remains in custody while police continue investigations.
