Drivers were left facing delays on the A12 between Gorleston and Lowestoft this morning after a BMW crashed into the central reservation in icy conditions near Corton.

Police and an ambulance crew were called to the single-vehicle collision at about 6.10am.

The driver suffered a minor back injury but was not badly hurt.

A police spokesman said the A12 was closed to allow for the recovery of the silver BMW, and big queues built up during the morning rush-hour.

The crash was followed by another minor collision on the same stretch of the A12, involving a Ford Transit van and a 4x4 vehicle at about 7.05am. But no-one was injured.

The force spokesman said that icy roads across the county had led to a number of shunts and crashes and urged drivers to drive carefully in the difficult conditions.
