An auction of art trail lifebuoys at the Cromer and Sheringham Crab and Lobster Festival has thrown a cash lifeline to a range of local organisations.
Grants totalling £5,000 were handed out to 19 community groups at the festival launch event.
The donations are made through the festival’s community grant scheme, running for a second year, which aims to support charities and organisations local to the two towns and who work tirelessly for the benefit of the local community.
Many of the projects which were successful will be working will local school children including: Sidestrand Hall School’s life skills flat, Henry Blogg and Cromer Museum’s new Nippers Club for under-5’s, and the Crazee Kidz Club, funding their Young Meets Old programme.
Festival Chairman Tony Shipp said: “This year’s grants help to continue the festival’s tradition of raising money for local charities through the charity auction and we are delighted that so many local community groups will benefit from them”.
Over the past three years the festival has donated more than £29,000 to local charities. The organisations receiving grants were: Sheringham Woodfields School, Cromer Cricket Club, Sheringham Community Smallholding, Cromer RNLI, North Norfolk Riding for the Disabled Association, Cromer Youth Football Club, Sheringham 18s Football Team, The Belfry School, Ladybird Pre-School Nursery, Cromer Parish Church, Henry Blogg Museum & Cromer Museum, Crazee Kidz Club, COAST Festival, Roughton Under 5’s Playgroup, Cromer Skate Park, Cromer Girl Guiding HQ, Sheringham Youth Zone, About with Friends and Sidestrand Hall School.
