Plans have been lodged to construct half-a-dozen homes in the place of the former Norfolk Coroner's Court in Norwich.
For the past six years, inquests have been heard inside Eastgate House on Thorpe Road, however in February the court moved to a temporary home in Carrow House.Now, the future of its former home has moved closer to being secured, with developers Eastgate Properties Ltd lodging a planning application to Norwich City Council to construct six new flats on the building's ground floor.
If the application is approved, all six homes will consist of one bedroom, adding to the 47 dwellings already spread across the four floor building.
Eastgate House homed the court since March 2011, however in 2015 the former office block was purchased by a private investor, which added the apartments.
The application stated the new flats would 'reflect the existing use of the rest of the building'.
