A dog discovered what is believed to be an unexploded mortar at a campsite in north Norfolk.

Police cordoned off a campsite on Holgate Lane in West Runton, between Sheringham and Cromer, after they were called at noon.

The device was unearthed by a dog being walked in the area.

Personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team went to the scene and assessed the item, and a controlled detonation took place around 5.25pm.

The cordon has since been lifted from the area.
