Members of a west Norfolk community were treated to a three-course Christmas lunch plus entertainment, courtesy of RAF Marham.

Each year people from surrounding villages are invited to join the station at the annual Friends of Marham Christmas lunch.

After lunch, guests enjoyed some beautiful Christmas songs sung by children from Marham’s Cherry Tree Academy Junior and Infant schools.

And station personnel then entertained them with some rousing Christmas carols accompanied by the RAF Wyton Voluntary Band.

Station Commander, Group Captain Rich Davies said: “It was fantastic to see so many people from our local villages attend the Christmas lunch. This is just a small way in which the station can say thank you to the local community for their support throughout the year.

“We certainly got into the Christmas spirit with some lovely singing from the children and some not quite so lovely singing from some of my personnel.”

The station is celebrating its centenary year and the last of about 130 events held to mark its 100 years of service, the burial of a time capsule at the Bull roundabout, was carried out last week.

The year has seen money raised for charities including the RAF Benevolent Fund and events have included a Mt Kilimanjaro climb.
