A community fridge has opened in Thorpe St Andrew in a bid to cut down on food waste.
The fridge, which is located at the Dussindale Community Centre, will enable people and businesses in the area to share surplus food for free.
It will be open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturday from 9am to 11am.
Broadland District Council said anyone can use the fridge and help themselves to free food.
D&F McCarthy and Sainsbury's on Pound Lane are among the first businesses to confirm they will contribute to the scheme.
Other businesses are now being asked to donate food items that are within their use-by date.
The fridge was funded by the Sainsbury's Waste less, Save more campaign.
