Comedian Jim Davidson, who used to own Great Yarmouth’s Wellington Pier, has tonight entered the Celebrity Big Brother House.
The former Big Break and Generation Game Host told Channel 5 viewers he was “a year late” going into the house after he was arrested in January last year on suspicion of historic sexual offences as part of Operation Yewtree - the national investigation prompted by the Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal.
Mr Davidson was re-arrested in March last year but in August last year the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) revealed that he would face no further action.
The CPS said it had considered 10 allegations against Davidson but there was “insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction in relation to all complaints”.
Mr Davidson entered the Celebrity Big Brother house tonight alongside Linda Nolan who enjoyed chart success with hits such as I’m In The Mood For Dancing and Don’t Make Waves, alongside her sisters, under the name The Nolans.
