A woman from Coltishall was literally swept off her feet when her boyfriend proposed to her during a romantic helicopter ride.
Adam Burton, 40, spent three months planning the elaborate stunt, which began when his hairdresser girlfriend, Klare Thomas, also 40, was picked up from her place of work at The Attic Hair Studio.
She was then driven from Coltishall, blindfolded, to Norwich International Airport where she found Mr Burton standing next to a helicopter.
He said: “I fly in helicopters all the time but Klare had never been in one.
“We’ve talked about them a lot so I thought I would get her to have a ride and couple the proposal with it.”
The couple were piloted by Anna Loake of SaxonAir Charter Ltd and after flying out to the coast they looped back round to fly over their Coltishall home.
Made from a roll of plastic table cloth, the words “marry me” had been laid out in their back garden in huge pink letters – Miss Thomas’ favourite colour.
“Klare just burst into tears of happiness,” Mr Burton said.
“I was very nervous but more excited and relieved that it all came together.
“I did end-up trying to put the ring on the wrong hand but I eventually got it on the right hand and we waved at our family and friends who were in the garden.”
Miss Thomas has since received dozens of phone calls and visits at work to congratulate her.
Now “taking a break” from planning, Mr Burton said he hoped the couple would organise their wedding together.
“When we do set a date, I will not be doing it on my own.”
