Staff and pupils at a Lowestoft school have been left shocked after vandals caused hundreds of pounds of damage to an outside play area.

Youngsters at Fen Park Primary School were left dismayed when they found out the play area for three to five-year-olds had been vandalised.

Between New Year’s Day and Monday morning play equipment had been tossed about and damaged, including a market stall, building blocks, and a bug ride.

The vandalism meant the early years pupils could not use the play area on their
first day back at school as
staff had to tidy up the mess and make sure all the equipment was all right to use
again.

And police were also called in by the school to investigate the incident, which was reported on Monday.

Zeegan Warne, deputy headteacher, said: “Our parents were quite shocked when they saw what had happened. Our pupils were upset to see the devastation caused, as you can imagine.

“It has had a huge impact on the children.

“It is not a nice start to the new year for them.”

Anyone with information
on the vandalism is asked to call Lowestoft police station on 101.
