A five-year-old child suffered slight injuries after being hit by a car.

Police confirmed the incident which occurred around midday on Sunday in Britannia Road, Norwich.

A police spokesman said: 'Police attended a minor incident in which a five year-old child suffered slight injuries. The incident was recorded as pedestrian error.'

Britannia Road resident Andy Sharp said there were ongoing issues associated with parking on Britannia Road and a 'log jam' by the Prison Cafe.

He said: 'The road is not designed for all these vehicles and it was an inevitable accident black spot.

'We have speeding cars, joyriders, too many parked vehicles on the road and pedestrians including the young and elderly.'

He said residents on Britannia Road wanted permit parking for the area.
