Sixteen greyhounds and one lurcher have become calendar stars – photographed against the backdrop of 12 landmark buildings in Norwich for this year’s Action for Greyhounds 2013 calendar.
Eleven of the dogs have been rescued and rehomed by the Norwich-based charity and five were adopted by its supporters.
The calendar is now on sale and all money raised will be put towards raising awareness of the plight of rescued greyhounds – and helping those already being cared for.
Action for Greyhounds co-founder Annie Boddey said the charity was hoping to repeat the success of previous calendars, which had sold out.
She said: “We feel this is our best calendar to date. Not only does it appeal to greyhound lovers, but it also has the added interest of the history and fabulous architecture around Norwich.”
The charity is holding a promotion afternoon for the calendar from noon at Tesco’s at Blue Boar Lane, Sprowston on Wednesday, November 21.
It was created with the help of a second year photography student from City College Norwich, two members of the Norwich and District Photographic Society and the Norwich 12, which is an initiative of Norwich Heritage Economic and Regeneration Trust.
The calendar is £6.50 (adding £1.50 p&p if ordered by post) and is available from the website www.actionforgreyhounds.co.uk or by sending a cheque, payable to Action for Greyhounds, to PO Box 3089, Norwich NR3 3YP. It can also be bought from Chapelfield Vets, McLintock House, Norwich and Fido’s Pet Store, Dixons shopping centre in Hellesdon.

Hope the calendar does well. Annie and AFG have done much to help the greyhounds over the years (unlike TB, said by many to be “mentally ill”).
