This summer’s popular Last Night of the Blicking Proms will mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War with nostalgic songs and a special appearance by Augustus, a Norfolk horse who played Joey in the blockbuster film War Horse.
And anyone buying tickets over the Easter weekend for the August 9 event will be entered into a prize draw to win a luxury hamper for two, with wine.
It will be packed with Italian goodies supplied by Carluccio’s, which has a restaurant in Norwich, including savoury tarts, pasta salad with roasted vegetables, and biscuits.
Members of the audience will be given song sheets for the proms evening, set in the grounds of the National Trust’s stately home, near Aylsham. The first half will feature sing-along favourites from the 1914-1918 period, including It’s A Long Way To Tipperary, Keep The Home Fires Burning, and Pack Up Your Troubles In Your Old Kit Bag.
The final half will contain a poignant remembrance, concluding with proms classics Jerusalem, Land Of Hope And Glory, and Rule Britannia.
A Spitfire will also roar over the estate, adding a touch of Second World War nostalgia to the occasion.
For a chance to win the hamper, tickets must be booked between Good Friday and Monday, April 21, inclusive.
Ticket numbers are limited this year as a wide aisle will be created through the centre of the seating area for Augustus’s entrance.
Tickets cost £33 in advance or £36 on the night. They are available online at www.revival-productions.co.uk or call the box office on 01263 734711. Group discounts are available. The event is sponsored by Belling, in partnership with the EDP.
