Cazalet Chronicles author Elizabeth Jane Howard dies at her Suffolk home

Suffolk author Elizabeth Jane Howard has died at the age of 90 at her home in Bungay.

She was the author of the Cazalet Chronicles, about the upper-class Cazalet family, which sold millions around the world and which were dramatised by BBC TV and Radio 4.

All Change, the fifth book in the series, was published in November last year.

She had been an actress and broadcaster, and also wrote TV scripts for series including Upstairs, Downstairs.

She was married three times, including to the naturalist Sir Peter Scott and to fellow author Sir Kingsley Amis

She was made a CBE in the 2000 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
