The first took place in the car park at Forest Retail Park on London Road between 11am and 11.15am on November 23.

An elderly woman was approached by a man who held a £10 note out to her, suggesting she had dropped it.

She opened her purse and he tried to confuse her by saying he wanted to change the £10 note for two £5 notes.

She refused and the man walked away.

The woman then noticed her bank card was missing when she went into a shop and later the same day found that £300 had been withdrawn from her bank account.

The second incident took place in the Tesco car park at Kilverstone on November 24 at 10.20am when a suspect again offered a £10 note, before asking if he could change it for two £5 notes.

Later the same day, a woman noticed her bank card was missing and the bank informed her £300 had been withdrawn at the cash machine in the car park at about 10.30am.

The suspect is described as an eastern European man, 5ft 6in with short dark hair and was wearing a jacket and trousers.

He was aged between 20 and 30-years-old.

It is thought on both occasions the women were watched using their debit cards.

Anyone with information should contact PC Stephanie Cochrane at Thetford police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
