Luke Walden, 25, only spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address and enter a plea to 11 charges at King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Wearing a white short sleeve shirt and black tie, Walden, of Dewdrop Close, Heacham, appeared calm and composed as he sat and listened to the hearing.

Susanna Chowdhury, prosecuting, urged magistrates to send Walden to Norwich Crown Court to be sentenced as she believed it wasn’t suitable for them to deal with him.

She added: “He is a carer and he cares for people in their homes. These people were vulnerable and he stole from them.”

The Heacham resident stole £180 and jewellery worth £400 belonging to one elderly Hunstanton resident on separate dates in May and June and £220 from another Hunstanton woman in June.

He also admitted stealing jewellery worth £200 from a Heacham resident between May 1 and May 31 and £738 from a Hunstanton man between May 1 and June 27.

The carer also pleaded guilty to stealing £10 from another woman on June 26 and £20 and jewellery from another Hunstanton resident between May 1 and June 27.

James McWhirter, for Walden, made no representations and magistrates agreed to send Walden to the crown court to be sentenced.

Walden was given conditional bail to return to King’s Lynn Magistrates’s Court at 2pm on October 30.
