Police received a number of calls from locals between 3.10am and 3.20am this morning (Friday) reporting a vehicle being driven erratically in the Homefield Avenue and Westwood Avenue area.

A police spokesman said: “Officers attended and about 3.35am received a report that the Kia had been abandoned, music blaring from it, at Heigham Drive. The vehicle was recovered with damage to the front and a flat tyre – possibly caused after the vehicle collided with the kerb.”

Officers then went to the home of the owner of the vehicle and discovered it had been stolen after someone had entered the property at sometime after 10.30pm last night (Thursday). The wallet and the car keys had been taken.

“Detectives are investigating the incident and are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area between 10.30pm last night and 4am this morning or anyone with information about who stole the car and abandoned it,” the police spokesman added.
