A post Christmas miracle is being sought in Barnstaple to try and save the Doves Christian Centre from closure.Although owner Philip Milton has announced the area's only Christian bookshop and resource centre is to close, he is hoping to hear from someone with a vision to keep it open. The existing cost of running the venture in its current form was the main reason for the need to close, Mr Milton said and it was something he had run as his "personal charity" for the past 20 years. But he said someone with some capital and business acumen would be able to take it over the venture as an owner occupier and not only make it pay its way, but would be able to see the works expand."It might suit a couple where perhaps one has retired early and enjoys the benefit of a pension so the financial pressure is not the paramount initial objective," he said."There is a keen band of volunteers waiting and willing to support the project and to build on it as a venue for light refreshments as well as spiritual comfort."Mr Milton still hopes to support the centre in some way and is keen to hear from anyone who might be interested in taking it on. He can be contacted on (01271) 344300 or by emailing info@miltonpj.net.
