A call has been made for the region’s tourism industry to get behind the latest Larking Gowen Tourism Business Survey.
The annual survey, supported by Visit Norfolk and Visit Suffolk and promoted by Archant, provides data about the state of East Anglia’s £4.2bn industry and is seen as a vital tool to influence government decision-makers.
Light shed on such key indicators as the level of investment taking place, the influence of social media and confidence in the future also provides information for operators to benchmark their business against others.
Chris Scargill, tourism and leisure partner at Larking Gowen, Chartered Accountants, launched the survey eight years ago in Norfolk and rolled it out into Suffolk for the first time last year.
More than 400 businesses took part last time and his aim is to grow that number to increase the survey’s value even more.
New topics delved into this year include businesses’ commitment to green energy and attitudes to zero-hour contracts.
Tourism operators, who have until the end of January to complete the online survey, are being urged to take the few minutes required to fill it in.
Survey champion Ian Russell, boss of Wroxham Barns, said: “A good response sends a positive signal to decision makers at central government, VisitEngland and the Local Enterprise Partnership.”
