A burst main in the Bowthorpe Centre, Wendene, resulted in families in Bowthorpe Hall Road losing water or suffering low water pressure.

The burst main, which was reported to police at about 6.20pm, has left large parts of road in the area underwater and also resulted in parts of the footpath subsiding.

Police received a number of calls about the burst main and advised motorists to avoid the area.

Workers for Anglian Water were called to investigate the burst main and were able to restore water to those affected by 9.10pm.

A spokesman said: “We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this interruption to your service.”
