Burglars were chased off from one home and tampered with security lighting at two others after targeting properties in a Mildenhall street.
Offenders gained entry to two homes in Heathland Way overnight between February 4 and the following day.
In one of the incidents, at 3.15am, the occupants of the house were disturbed and challenged the intruder, who fled out of the back door and round the side of the house to the front.
The victim ran to the front door and saw the suspect climb over a fence into College Heath Road, before running away into the housing estate opposite.
In the other break-in, a house was entered via an insecure downstairs window, but nothing is believed to have been stolen.
Police are linking the burglaries to two other incidents in the street, which saw two other householders reported that security lighting had been tampered with and damaged.
The burglar has been described as being white, around 5ft 9in, of medium build with a black beard or heavy stubble. He spoke with an English accent.
