A group of lucky geography students from Bungay enjoyed the trip of a lifetime during a recent educational visit to Iceland.

In total 25 pupils from Bungay High School Sixth Form visited the country to study its beautiful landscape.

A school spokesman said: “They experienced blizzards whilst out in the isolated landscapes doing activities such as walking alongside glaciers and climbing to the very top of waterfalls.

“There was also some fantastic snowball fights.”

He added: “Evenings were spent in geothermal hot springs at the tourist hotspot of the Blue Lagoon as well as sitting in outdoor hot tubs whilst snow fell overhead.

“Although there were no sightings of the Northern Lights this year, the students had a range of unique experiences such as seeing geysers sprout into the sky, walking down into a volcano crater, and visiting the Reynisfjara black beach.”

“All of these activities complement the students A Level course content which covers themes such as globalisation, tectonics, coasts and identity of place.”
