More than 100 people attended the event on Saturday at the Auden Theatre, Gresham’s School, in Holt, where the composer spend some of his school years.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said a land ambulance and rapid response vehicle were called at 2.12pm after a woman in her 70s collapsed from a “sudden illness”.

He added: “She regained consciousness at the scene and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.”

He said her condition was not life-threatening.

Audience member Conal O’Donnell, 62, from Dereham, said the woman collapsed during a question and answer session with film director Tony Britten and Britten biographer Dr Paul Kildea.

He said Dr Henry Crawley, another audience member, helped the woman before the paramedics arrived. The film premier was delayed by about 20 minutes, Mr O’Donnell added.

  • Let's hope that the lady goes on to make a full recovery. But... given that this was a premier(e) of a film about Britten in his centenary year, being shown at the place he went to school and presented by one of his relations, how nice would it be to read a review of the occasion.
