Olympic gold medallist Bradley Wiggins has been released from hospital after receiving treatment for injuries suffered in a collision with a van, sources said.
The scene of the incident. Picture: Peter Byrne/PAThe 32-year-old Tour de France winner, who is originally from Kilburn, was in collision with a white Vauxhall Astra Envoy in in Wrightington, Lancashire yesterday. It is close to his family home in Eccleston.
His injuries from the crash were thought to be very serious at first, but later it appeared he suffered a number of broken ribs and cuts and bruises.
The driver of the Astra, a local woman, was uninjured.
Meanwhile Shane Sutton, head coach for the GB Cycling Team, is recovering in hospital after he was involved in a separate road accident today in Manchester in which he suffered bruising and bleeding on the brain.

A service at a Sikh temple in Norwich spiralled out of control when police were called to break up a brawl.
